Ice type Ninetales? Ice type Sandslash? Dragon type Exeggcutor? If you’re like me then you are surprised too (I guess that’s what the 7th gen is all about). If you played since the first generation then expect to see your childhood Pokemon get some twist!
Pokemon Sun and Moon introduces Alolan forms - these are different forms of some of our beloved first gen Pokemon like Meowth, Grimer, Exeggcute, Vulpix, Sandshrew and their respective evolutions. This coupled with the new pokemon for 7th gen as well a new mechanics puts Sun and Moon as the most revolutionary entry in the series.
Prof. Oak!?
Yes, you read that right! As it appears, Our favorite, no-you-can’t-ride-your-bike-here Professor has a cousin in Alola! Meet Samson Oak, the tanned skin, longer hair, and tropical looking Oak of Alola. According to credible sources, Professor Samson Oak or “Alolan” Oak as people like to call him is the expert in studying “different” forms of Pokemon - an Alolan professor studying Alolan Pokemon forms!
Type and Ability
Aside from Aesthetics, Alola forms also changes the typing and even gives our beloved first gen Pokemon some new moves. Alolan Raichu with its Psychic attack, Alolan Ninetales with its Ice attacks, and even a new ability for some like Snow Rush for Alolan Sandslash that boosts its speed on Hail weather.
Knowing Gamefreak, we can expect more surprises especially when it comes to Alolan forms! This is after all the generation for surprising nostalgia.
